I don't think it can ever be proven, one way or the other. The marriage bond says her name was Marthey Cohun. I believe you can firmly say her first name was Martha and her nickname was Patsy. I would be very interested in any old bible with an entry for her name or for Peter. How old was the entry? Does it say anything about who his father was? As for Martha's parents, that is a true mystery, I don't think anyone has a clue. If the clerk mispelled her last name on the marriage bond, we may never find out who her parents were. I really don't think it would have been Cohun.
