    1. Re: Allen lines
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Davidson, Allen, McClure, Pitzer Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GBC.2ACI/251.255.1.1 Message Board Post: One of my ancestors, Baker Davidson, married Elizabeth "Betsy" Womack in Prince Edward County, VA in 1795. Elizabeth's mother was an Allen (and Baker's father was William Womack, who later moved to Botetourt County, VA on land Baker Davidson had obtained). I think Elizabeth's mother was known as "Mollie" Allen. Baker was born about 1775, and he was apparently born in Augusta County, VA (in a part that became Rockbridge County, VA when that county was created in 1778), but he was later reared in Botetourt County, VA. Baker Davidson's brothers, also reared in Botetourt County, VA, included Thomas Davidson. It appears that Thomas Davidson named one of his sons Allen Davidson, so I wonder if Thomas Davidson may have married into the same Allen family as Baker's mother-in-law? I see that a Hugh Allen Senior and Junior were in Botetourt, and one of them appears on a list of the first citizens of Allegheny County, VA when that county was created in 1822 as Captain Hugh Allen. A son of Baker Davidson, namely Baker W. Davidson, appears on that same list, as does a Captain Samuel McClure and Capt. John Pitzer, Junior. Note: A McClure man married a daughter of the above-referenced Thomas Davidson. Thomas Davidson had another son named Thomas M. Davidson, and I think I saw a record about a Thomas M. Allen, but I don't know if there is any connection (and I don't know what the "M" stood for). Any idea if a "Botetourt Allen" married a Davidson? Any idea is "Mollie" Allen, who married William Womack in PECo, was from this same "Botetourt Allen family." Thanks!
