    3. Folks, I am down to this... Grasping at straws, it seems William Haynie CRAWFORD, the Presbyterian preacher who was in Tennesee, but who was briefly in Craig County, could well have been an uncle (according to a researcher) of Paulina CRAWFORD. If so, Grief CRAWFORD would appear to be, possibly, a brother to William. Or something like that. If so, that puts Grief in a position to be related to John Montgomery CRAWFORD of Craigs Creek. Since Craig County was not even invented until 1851, it would appear the likely candidate is Botetourt? That is where Paulina is from, anyway! Does anyone have info on JMC? Thanks, Vince

    3. Vince, remember me - Gerre Engard Byrd????? It's good to see you working on the Botetourt site. A related group of ENGARDS spelled ENGART migrated from Phila. to Botetourt Co. abt 1800. One of the ENGARTS married a SNIDER. Mary ENGART married John SNIDER 1831 Botetourt Co. I've never been able to develop John's line backward. Thought perhaps the SNIDER line came from around the Philadelpia area. Also, on my mother's side, I have a CRAWFORD line. John CRAWFORD from Ayrshire, SCOTLAND was the immigrant. One Judith CRAWFORD married into the TERRY line. Judith's line was out of New Kent Co. & Amherst Co., VA. If I can help, let me know. Gerre
