My 3rd great grandparents are John Lewis Custer who went by Lewis Custer and Rebecca Shawver. Lewis Custer is the son of John Custer and Mary "Polly" Smiley daughter of James Smiley and wife unknown. They were married in Botetourt County, Va. 19 Jun 1839. By the 1850 census they removed to Warren County, Tn. In the 1860 census they moved to Union County, Illinois where they both died in 1863. In the 1820 Botetourt County census the following are listed: John Custard; Adam Sawver; Andrew Shawver; James Smiley; Daniel Smiley; George Smiley; and William Smiley. I am looking for the parents of Rebecca Shawver. Any information would greatly be appreciated. Marianne Dillow
