Earl I can say without looking that 99% of anyone named Peffley, Pefley or Peffly, in the USA, is descended from Nicholas Peffley (Pfaffle) and his wife Barbara, who came to Philadelphia Aug 29, 1729 aboard the Mortenhouse. Barbara, who some assign the name "Barne" to, (no proof), was from Bern, Switzerland, and Nicholas was from Eggiwil, also in Kanton Bern. I refer to Barbara as "of Bern". Nicholas died in 1741, (family says by Indian attack) The 1938 Book says 1749, based on Probate of his estate. In 1742 Barbara "the Widow" Peffley remarried to Peter Bichsel (Bixler) a neighbor, and also from Eggiwil. She is the "Mother" of both the Peffley and Bixler Lines out of Lancaster Co. Pa. I don't have a verified reference in my files that matches what you sent, I do however have a Lucinda Peffley who married someone only known as "C." Lucinda was born in 1830, and died June 5, 1925, in Clark Township, Montgomery, Indiana, USA. She is buried in the Stoner Cemetery, Clark Township, Montgomery, Indiana, USA, and the headstones are the source of the above data. Could this be the correct one?
