I am hopeful that someone will be able to tell me: In what area did these Justices BOYER practice in 1773 and 1774. Here is a statement of their appointment. >From Botetourt County History Before 1800, published by the Botetourt County Historical Society Centennial Publications Committee - no date listed for publication. "The first justices for Botetourt County were appointed on December 22, 1769, and were confirmed on Tuesday, February 13, 1770 . . . quote Court Book 1770, Part 1, Page 1: `Appointed Kings Justices for keeping ordinances and statutes of the Kingdom and laws of the colony, at the house of Robert Breckenridge were Andrew Lewis, Richard Woods, Robert Breckinridge, William Preston, John Bowyer, Israel Christian, John Maxwell, James Trimble, Benjamin Hawkins, David Robinson, William Fleming, George Skillern, and Benjamin Estell.' The first seven of these justices (through John Maxwell) constituted a quorum, which meant one of these men had to be present when the Court sat, however others could be included to make up a panel. Those present on this day were: Andrew Lewis, Robert Breckinridge, William Preston, Israel Christian and James Trimble. On March 2, 1770, William Ingles and John Howard were added to the quorum and Phillip Love, James Robertson, William Christian, William Herbert, John Montgomery, Stephen Trigg, Robert Poage, Walter Crockett, James McGavock, Francis Smith, Andrew Woods, William Matthews, John Bowman, William McKee and Anthony Bledsloe were appointed justices. Added to this list on July 17, 1771 were James Thompson, John Stewart, John Robinson, John Van Bibber and Matthew Arbuckle. Newly appointed justices on June 11, 1773 were Richard May, Thomas Bowyer, William Madison, Patrick Lockhart, Henry Paullin, James Templeton, Samuel Lewis, Andrew Boyd, William McClenachan, John Murray, William Heugart, Henry Smith, Andrew Donnelly and James McAfee. On May 30, 1774 the list consisted of Andrew Lewis, John Boyer, John Maxwell, James Trimble, David Robinson, William Fleming, George Skillern, Benjamin Estill, Phillip Love, Andrew Woods, John Bowman, William McKee, Samuel Lewis and Richard May, who consituted a quorum; with William Madison, John Murray, William McClenachan, James Henderson and Andrew Donnelly as gentlemen justices; and the Rev.
