Mary: The following information is from the Botetourt Bicentennial Souvenir Program dated June 21-27, 1970. "Troutville - In 1881 this area had no name. The railroad came through and a station was built. There were three houses then which were occupied by John, Jim and George Trout so it was called Troutville. It became an important shipping center in the 1890's. Before the railroad came through, the stage ran from Blue Ridge to Fincastle and stopped at the Trout's to get water. The post office and a blacksmith shop were here also. In the 1880's three canneries were built. About this time a factory to make tin cans was also build. This building is now Southern States Feed Store. In 1924 Highway 11 was improved and re-routed. In 1951 Troutville was incorporated and is now a rapidly growing and prosperous community." I have a lot of Trout(t)s in my data base but none that you mention. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Good luck in your search. Lynda Troutt Murphy
