Andrew C. Trout (born between 1780-1790 & died between 1843-1849) came to Botetourt Co. with his wife Sarah (Sally) Reed. They were married on June 28, 1821 in Rockbridge Co; she was the daughter of Michael and Catherine Reed. Depending on which record you view, Andrew was either born in Virginia, Pennsylvania, or Germany. Does anyone know which is correct? I know there was a small group of Trouts in Augusta Co. around this time. Andrew and Sarah had the following children: 1. James M. Trout, b. Sept. 1823, alive in 1900, m. Martha Jane Camper in 1849 Bot. Co. 2. Andrew J. Trout, b. 1826, m. Elizabeth Selvey in 1850 Bot. Co. 3. Catherine A. Trout, b. 1829 4. John A. Trout, b. 1833 5. George Trout, b. 1837 6. Sarah Trout, b. Aug. 15, 1840, d. Mar. 4, 1913, m. a Bishop. 7. Lucinda Trout, b. Sept. 1844, d. after June 1928, m. Jacob Dooley in 1866 Bot. Co. Any info on the above people would be appreciated. Thanks, Mary p.s. Does any one know how the town of Troutville got its name????? Numerous members of this family lived there and next door in Amsterdam.
