In the Augusta/Rockbridge Co court records abstracted by Lyman Chalkley there is an item dated 1772 that lists the men who received allottments of land for service in the colonial wars with the notation that the land is in Fincastle county. I have read that that land is now in Botetourt Co, but I wondered what the boundaries of Fincastle were. Was it the same as Botetourt is now? Also, would anyone know whether there are any land ownership maps for that time period and where I would get them.
