Thanks to Mike Miller and Frank Nofsinger for their replies. The USGS 1:100,000 map of the Roanoke Quadrangle shows Tinker Creek running from Mt Union to Glebe Mills to Cloverdale to Richmond. Kegley's Virginia Frontier, p.537 shows essentially the same. However, the J. R. Hildebrand map shows Buffalo Creek running past Glebe Mill and Daleville. There is a Little Buffalo Creek running SW into Tinker Creek on the Hildebrand and Kegley maps. My USGS map has no name on this stream. It appears that the upper Tinker Creek, NW of Cloverdale, was earlier called Buffalo Creek. I invite further comment. Richard R.
