    3. I cannot find the reference therefore not sure this is refering to the same road but I believe the Route 11, "Valley Road" " Southwest Turnpike"are all names of the same road. It was a "improved" road and modern road in all the eras. I believe that at some time around and after it was referd to as the "macadam" road. This means that it was graded and had a surface of finely crushed material(stone) that was compacted together for a hard surface....but I can't seem to find out where I heard this info. -----Original Message----- From: Freddie Spradlin <FSPRADLIN@delphi.com> To: VABOTETO-L@rootsweb.com <VABOTETO-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, November 18, 1998 11:54 AM Subject: McAd Road >Pollard's 1910 Directory includes an address near Troutville, for McAdam Rd. > >Regards, >Freddie S. > > `Hello, > `Does anyone know by chance where McAd > `road was in Botetourt Co. in the late 1860s?
