    3. You may have a good chance of locating his Death Certificate. Also, the county may have marriage records which might give you a lead. Vince, have you found him as a child in the 1900 census, or as an adult in 1910 and 1920? I can help you with that if you like. I have access to Heritage Quest, and will get back on Ancestry one of these days. 3. It's great to hear from you - of course I remember you! I will look more closely to see about Sniders and Crawfords to see if there is some connection. I am just taking a brief break, and cannot get into it now, but I will check up later - probably Friday. Author: byronbowman1 Surnames: Davis Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.botetourt/2435/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My ancestor, Robert Davis appears to have moved to Surry County, NC between 1800 & 1810. He is listed there in the 1810, 1820, 1830, & 1840 US Censuses. In the 1840 census listing he is reported as a revolutionary war veteran aged 85. I believe he is the Rev. War Pensioner listed below**. If so, he was probably living in Botetourt Co, VA when he enlisted in the 1st regiment of the VA line, and he died in Surry County NC where his will was recorded 9 Dec 1841 in the Surry County Will Book 4 page 264. Robert's will seems to confirm that he & Abigail were parents of Jesse Davis (who was father of America Davis, my mother's paternal grandmother). In the 1850 US Census for Surry County NC, Abigail is living in the household of her son Jesse Davis, and she is listed as having been born in NY. Does anyone on the list know when Capt Isaac Taylor might have enlisted Robert Davis in Botetourt County? where Capt Isaac Taylor might have enlisted Robert Davis in Botetourt County? if Robert Davis returned to Botetourt County after the revolutionary war? if Robert Davis was married to Abigail in Botetourt County? I will be very grateful for any information or leads about a Robert Davis who might have been born in 1755 and who could have enlisted in the VA line in Botetourt County. Author: jn2tv4 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.botetourt/2434/mb.ashx Message Board Post: GENEALOGY NEWS ALERT Contact: rps@rememberrockford.com CALLING ALL COUSINS DESCENDED FROM FAMILIES OF ROCKFORD, NORTH CAROLINA The Rockford Preservation Society has announced the launch of its 2007 Remember Rockford capital campaign. A major thrust of the campaign is for the village to reconnect with the descendants of families for whom Rockford is an ancestral home. "The campaign offers these descendants a real opportunity to preserve for future generations of their families their heritage and their home," says Ms. Hannah Holyfield, President of the society. "We are going to work with genealogical groups and with ancestry sites on the Internet to reach out to descendants who may have only minimal knowledge about their ancestors' lives here but would like to know more. We plan to contact these descendants and ask them to help us restore the village and then, literally, to come back home." The culmination of the "Remember Rockford" campaign will be a Remember Rockford Families Reunion to be held in 2009. The reunion date will be set in the coming months. Anyone with family ties to Rockford is encouraged to go to rememberrockford.com and register to receive news updates of planned events for the coming months. 1. [VABOTETO] Grief Crawford in 1860 Census - Discussion
    2. Vincent E. Summers
    3. 1860 Botetourt Grief Crawford 70 Nancy 70 Saml 22 Jno 18 Mary 40 Jane 10 May 8 Note the above. Clearly not all of the last 5 names are children of Grief and Nancy. In order for her to have had May, she would have gotten pregnant at age 63 - a rare feat, indeed! No. What is the case? It is hard to be certain. Yet, I think this may be admissable: Comparing the above with the 1850, 172/172 Grief Crawford 52 M Virginia Nancy Crawford 48 F Virginia Hiram Crawford 21 M Virginia Polly Crawford 20 F Virginia Jackson Crawford 18 M Virginia Lucy Crawford 16 F Virginia Samuel Crawford 11 M Virginia John Crawford 9 M Virginia Francis Crawford 2[?] M Virginia Hiram appears to be a son who moved away from home after 1849 sometime, but before 1861. Polly, Jackson, Lucy, Samuel and John appear to be children. Francis appears to be a grandchild. In 1870, Polly is listed with a Jane and a Minerva. I suggest Paulina Jane and Frances Minerva or Frances May - hence I suggest Paulina Jane and Fannie M CRAWFORD, buried at Oriskany, are Grief's grandchildren, through his daughter Mary or Polly. Of course, there is a possible flaw. With CRAWFORD, I've come to expect that! 1870 lists a Griff Crawford, but only aged 66, with a Nancie, aged 55, a John and a Samuel. Also a Martha, however. I am thinking this may have been a son to Grief and Nancy who left the next *before* 1850. A first-born is often named for good ole Dad. It is common to name children after brothers and sisters. The wife's name *is* a curious coincidence - but I suggest it *is* a coincidence, and that Grief and Griff are not the identical person. Vince P.S. Comments, evidence, etc., not only welcomed, but requested.

I've hoped someone might have something regarding this later Elizabeth.
