Hi All, Someone has to have some information on the Rowe family. I am desperate for help, hit a brick wall a couple of years ago. I am also interested in the SARVER, TRACY and SPURLOCK families. I know that the Rowe's were in Botetourt Co. in the late 1700's. Thanks for any help, Sharon

I have a question I'm hoping someone knows the answer too. While adding information from the book "The Beckners of Botetourt" by William Everett Beckner, on page 7, it says Jacob's daughter Susanna married William Obenchain. I had it as follows on page 31 of the same book in my data, that Susannah was the daughter of Daniel Beckner and Hannah Gross. Does anyone know which one is right? The "Botetourt County Marriages", on page 337, lists the marriage, but does not state who her father was. I am an Obenchain decendant through Mary Leffel who married Abraham Peery, whose decendant married into my Beckners. Thanks, Terri Genealogical database is at: http://micosaur.granitecity.com Join us in the #GenealogyForum on Afternet, directions available here: http://www.rare.on.ca/users/genealogyforum/index.htm
Queries posted this past week to this VAGenWeb site mentioned the following surnames: BRADLEY, CAMPBELL, HOLSTINE, HOLSTON, HUFFMAN, NIDAY, ROBINSON, WILSON, WOODS For those of you wanting to read these new queries, they are located at URL: <a href="http://people.delphi.com/fspradlin/bote-qry.htm"> http://people.delphi.com/fspradlin/bote-qry.htm </a> Regards, Freddie S. fspradlin@delphi.com 3448 W. 170th St., Torrance, CA 90504-2402
Hi Kap: I have just subscribed to several VA counties and this is the first letter. I may be of no help to you on the Bryants, but I'll give you what we have: My great grandfather was Joseph Henry Franklin Doss 1827-1867+ - married to Elizabeth Ann Bryant 1833-1889. Her parents were Richard ca1800-1815 and Ann(ie) Young Bryant (Briant) circa 1800-1857. They were born in Franklin Co. VA. One record says he died in Blacksburg VA, which I think is in Botetorte Co. That's as far as we go back. She had a brother Dennis in Cabell Co. WV where she took her children and lived after her husband died. She is buried in my family's "Wilson" cemetery near Barboursville/Huntington WV area. We don't have a sure date of death for Joseph - he was in the Civil War and may have died during the war. We're researching surnames: Bryant, Doss, Wilson, Hanley, Lester, Green, Dodds, and quite a few others, who were almost all from Virginia and West Virginia areas. Thanks for your e-mail of 2/5/99 1:49:51. Ruth (Doss) Hanley/Handley
Hello. Looking for researchers looking for Bryants in Botetourt Co., Va. This is the family line of my spouse - his maternal grandfather was Albert Bryant married to Edna Alexander. They are both buried in Eagle Rock. Thanks, Kap
I received this from one of our fellow researchers, and thought it worthwhile to pass on. `Who says computers do not help. I recently sent out a querry looking `for my mothers birth father. In the last week and a half I have been `able to locate her birth family. We have confirmed the info and we `have also taken my mother to Virginia to meet them. She now has 2 `half-brothers living and 2 step- sisters living. Talking about one `happy lady. Especially since the only brother she had died at an `early age. We were able to send photos across the internet to confirm `this before we made that trip also. I want to stress to everyone `important that it is to answer these querry's because you may not know `who you are helping. Thanks to everyone who sent info to me. I will `be asking for more after this because it does work. Regards, Freddie S. fspradlin@delphi.com 3448 W. 170th St., Torrance, CA 90504-2402
Interesting news item. I thought you would like to know about it. Betty http://newsnet.byu.edu/noframes/show_story.cfm?number=8836
Who will look-up Joseph Magart (page 66A??) in the 1820 Botetourt censes for me? Thank you for your help. Ken Maggard Marietta, GA
Hi all, My g4grandfather is Adam CARPER. He married Susan Knicely on 1 Jan 1799 in Rockbridge Co., VA. I have a copy of WFT CD #16, Tree 2399 that lists him as the son of Philip CARPER of Botetourt Co. The reference for this is given as World Family Tree Vol. 16, Ed. 1, Release Date 15 Dec 1997. Is anyone on the list researching this CARPER line? I have a ton of information on the CARPERs but have not been able to confirm the relationship through any other source. Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks and good hunting, Robert Rooney
I am researching the Wiers, Wires, Wire, Wier family of VA. I have the pension record of James Wiers. It was issued in 1820 when he was 82 years old. His children are grow and his wife is about 67. He served in Capt Adam Wallace`s company and was captured by Tarlton. Does any one have any information about him, his descendendts or ancestors? I would be glad to share any information that I might have. Pamela Wiers Vandenhoff
Greetings! I am a descendent of John RIDDLESBARGER who owned about 460 acres at the "beaver dam" on Looney Creek at the James River. The Riddlesbargers moved to the area in 1787 and remained for some time. Does anyone happen to know the locale? I am curious if this is still farm land or perhaps, a Walmart! Thanks, Kim Riddlebarger Orange County, CA.
For Kara: 1) This is on microfiche. It is not in book form, so I do not have it at my house. I have to go to the center and view it on the reader. Thank you for posting the microfiche number. I have a reader at home so I will order the fiche and you can eliminate my request. (David McELHANEY). I really appreciate your time. It is hard for me also to get to the FHC with their funny hours......... Thanks Again, Sandy in Alaska sandy@mosquitonet.com

I know this is a long shot. In New Castle, Botetourt County, VA on 14 May 1839 there was someone who signed his name to a letter as "E. CAMPBELL". I have a transcribed copy that letter. E. CAMPBELL sent the letter to his uncle, Rev. Andrew EARLY in Blount County, TN, telling him of the death of his father, John CAMPBELL. The letter was written by a very educated person, his penmanship is beautiful. E. CAMPBELL's father, John Campbell was m. to Mary "Polly" EARLY in Augusta County on 5 Feb 1795. (I have a copy of the marriage bond.) My research shows that John CAMPBELL and Mary "Polly" EARLY had two children (I'm sure there must be more), E. CAMPBELL and Mary W. "Polly" CAMPBELL (b. 1814; m. George W. BLAND in Monroe County, VA on 18 Oct 1836). I am looking for the full name of E. CAMPBELL. The records show that E. CAMPBELL's wife was J.S. UNKNOWN. I am also looking for her full name. So far I only have one child for them. She is Martha S. CAMPBELL b. 1849. She d. in Monroe County, WV on 28 May 1869. She died of consumption and was unmarried at the time of death. Don't know if it is possible to uncover the entire name of E. CAMPBELL and his wife J.S. but I would certainly love to solve this mystery. Regards, Maggie Phillips
