    1. [VABOTETO-L] Paulina J. Crawford/Ruble/Botetourt
    2. Lisa/John Ward
    3. Hi Vince, Ok...I have the 1850 census..there were 2 families of Crawford in Botetourt in 1850. One was too old and the other was the right age to have a daughter of Paulina's age, seeing as she was born in 1844, but no Pauline. So, this may be that Pauline was not in Botetourt at that time. I can't remember if you have Pauline's mom and dad's names or not. I have seen, in my searches...where there were children born of a family...but for whatever reason, financial mostly...they were living with other relatives in other areas at the time of the census...thus they would not be listed in their parents household because they were not there. Did you go to USGENWEB/VAGENWEB to get some of your info? I have the cemetery rosters and a wealth of info on Botetourt from there...i can try to get the 1860 census.. Didn't you say that she was married before George Washington Ruble? Our luck, Crawford is her first married name. maybe... Also, a side note...look at the age difference in Pauline and George...30 year difference...She married George at 25...perhaps she was a widow, a young one...when she married George. Like I said before, I just have her data in relation to George. I am working on the male lines for now, and the lateral lines and merging surname lines later. I'd really like to work with you on this though, has struck my curiosity!! Several of George's siblings migrated to Craig County. That maybe another location to look at as far as G.W.'s info, and perhaps Pauline's. After all. CRAIG CO, was formed from BOTETOURT in 1851......So, Craig county may be where we can find info on her. 2. Faulkner, Robert
    3. Good evening Mr. Summers, I may be of some help to you. I have been researching Paulina Noffsinger for some time now and believe I am a direct descendant of hers. Paulina Noffsinger age 18, married Wm. D. King in Botetourt County on Oct. 23, 1867. I found this information at the Fairfax County Library in Fairfax City, VA. The information is on microfilm # 929.3755, marriage index. Also, in the 1880 census, Lina King is listed with her children Lilly, Clara, Lucy, Annie and Willy, however no husband is present. I am descended through Lilly. If I may be of further help, please advise. Bob Faulkner Annandale, VA. -----Original Message----- From: Vincent E. 2. In a message dated 11/13/03 3:01:07 AM CST, > [email protected] writes: > Message Board Post: I am a direct descrendent of Robert and Elizabeth Looney. My grandmother was Cleo May Looney Hellems. Her grandfather was Joseph Looney. His Father was Alexander C. Looney. If I keep going and can trace back to Robert Looney. He came over from the Isle of Mann, sometime in the 1600. He had a land grant in was is now Botetourt County. My family if from Craig County. There are Renfro's in our family tree. ++++++++++++++++++++ I have some ties to the Looneys in Botetourt County as well. My ancestors were Edward and Jane McClellan Sharp who settled in Botetourt County around 1760 along Looney Creek. Jane's sister Mary married a David Looney, and after Edward's death they and other McClellans and Looneys resettled in what is now Sullivan County, TN, around Bristol in the Holston River area. Several Looneys - Samuel, Moses and others besides David, pop up in various legal records of the Sharps. I have suspected a closer tie than just being neighbors, but have no proof. Edward and Jane Sharp's oldeer son Anthony (from whom I descend) may have had Looney as a middle name. He named one of his sons Robert Looney, and that name persisted for several generations. If I can share any information with you, feel free to e-mail me. love joan

Well - it is merely speculatively possible. I don't know. What I do know is that her family lived nextdoor at some point before 1880 up and through 1880 to George Washington RUBLE who married a Paulina CRAWFORD, and there appears to be *no* Paulina CRAWFORD at all listed in Botetourt - which is where Paulina is buried - at the Oriskany Cemetery, with the dates of 1844-1924 apparently inscribed on her stone (I have not seen that or a photograph of the stone. I do know that a 4 can look awfully like a 9 sometimes, and vice-versa). Vince Summers P.S. If you are familiar with this Lucy, please tell me more about her and her husband, etc. Thanks to the kind person who looked up both of these census entries...
