1. [VABOTETO-L] Sharp, mcClellan, Gammon, Gamble, Kerr
2. These families -- SHARPS, MCCLELLANS, GAMBLES, GAMMONS AND KERRS -- all were living in Botetourt County in the early years. JANE MCCLELLAN married EDWARD SHARP who died in 1770. She later married JOHN KERR, and a large group of neighbors and kin migrated to that tip of Tennessee which then was part Virginia, part North Carolina. Some researchers claim Jane was married also to SAMUEL GAMBLE. Others say that she died eventually while living with the GAMMON family. Can anyone shed any light on this? love joan

1. [VABOTETO-L] KESSLER/KESLER/KESLAR/KEASLER DNA testing
2. The initial purpose of the KESSLER/KESLER surname DNA project was to link 2 families descending from a possible common ancestors in MD/PA in the 1700's. After preliminary testing, the results show these 2 men, one from a line in Botetourt Co., VA and the other from a line in Frederick Co., MD, to be related as closely as 99.9%. Given these results, this surname project was opened to any and all male with the variant spelling of KESSLER/KESLER/KESLAR/KEASLER's. Recently 2 more gentleman, one from a Botetourt Co., VA line and the other from a Franklin Co., VA line, took part in the testing also with successful results. These results also ruled out any connection with the first two men that were tested. The more participants, the more DNA results to compare. Ruling out a possible ancestor line is just as important as finding a new lead for one. All KESSLER/KESLER/KESLAR/KEASLER men are encouraged to participate and if a match is made, additional written genealogy data can be obtained from that individual. DNA testing will allow us new leads to pursue. I am hopeful that someone from the Kessler branch of Fayette Co., WV and Fayette Co.,PA might also be able to take part in this test and compare to see if we may all belong to the same line of Kessler/Kessler/Keslar/Keasler. To read more about this project see the web site at Family Tree DNA - we do genetic tests for your … http://www.familytreedna.com/ If you are interested in joining our KESSLER/KESLER/KESLAR project click on SURNAME PROJECT at the top of the page on the web site and click on the letter "K". From there follow down and click on the name KESSLER. To register to participate fill out the form and click join. Your information will be sent to the project's Administrator, Judi Spencer, who will get in touch with you regarding your request. If the project Administrator and you agree that you should be part of the project, you will be given a web address and a "join code" which will allow you to join the project and to order DNA tests at reduced prices or Judi can place the order for you. The group price for the 25 marker test is $169 (plus shipping & handling). The option of using a credit card or having an invoice included with the test kit is offered.
