Hi all! Just subscribed and thought I'd start off with a question: Anybody have info on a Peter Hunter Anderson b1851 in Botetourt? At some point before 1878 he moved to Texas, and died in Ohio in 1936. He's my ggreat grandfather, and something of a brick wall. I know he had siblings and most of them look like they're Native American, so either they were adopted or one of his parents was Native American. I don't have any of their names or his parents' names. Also, am I correct that in 1851, Botetourt included all of what is now Botetourt and Craig Counties? If any of this looks familiar, please email me at [email protected] or [email protected]! Thanks! Among many others, it shows a distribution to a William Davidson "for Jos." in 1807. I believe that this William Davidson was either the husband of Martha "Mattie" (Baker) Davidson (Andrew Baker's sister who lived in Botetourt in the early 1800s; she was the mother of the well-known Rockbridge County Rev. Andrew Baker Davidson who married Susan B. Dorman) or this William might have been their son. Does anyone have any information on "Jos." (Joseph, I presume). He could have been a son of the William mentioned, though the older William who married Martha, if he was the William Davidson that I think he was, had a brother named Joseph. This will also addresses a Robert Davidson in 1809. I have a Botetourt marriage record where a Robert Davidson married a Sarah Davidson in 1801, but I had thought that Sarah was a member of "my" family and that Robert was a member of an (apparently) unrelated Davidson family. This Robert could have been Martha's son-in-law, or maybe she also had a son named Robert of which I am not aware (I have seen one record that claims this). The will also mentions John Pitzer. He married Charlotte Davidson of Botetourt in 1794. She was, I believe, a daughter of Martha and Willliam Davidson. Any information on the above Joseph and/or Robert (or other family members) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
