Hi, Tommy...... Your home page and thereafter are great! Thanks for sharing....... I noticed you had both Kennedy and Stratton names in your history.....just wondering if you have any other info on these families? I'm a desc. of James Kasey and Mary Canaday (Kennedy) dau. of William. We think her mom was Anna Stratton, but we're not sure (can't prove it, anyway). Of Bedford and Botetourt Counties, of course......mid to late 1700s. So, just thought I'd ask... Sally Kasey E.
The Bedford Co. Will of Henry Stratton was signed Nov. 19, 1799; probate & recording was Dec. 23, 1799. Wife Sarah; Sons William, John, Thomas, Henry, Archibald; Daughters Judith Davis, Mary Lee, Betty Smith, Anna Cannady, Jeanny Leftwich, Sally Winfrey, Martha dec'd. Execs: wife Sarah, Thomas Leftwich, John Stratton. source: [Bedford Co. Virginia Will Book 2, p. 263, according to Ann Chilton,"Bedford County Virginia Will Book 1, 1759- 1787, Will Book 2, 1787-1803" published 1988, p. 86] You could probably order a copy of the recorded will from the Bedford Circuit Court. Hi Sally: Well I have direct kinship to the Kennedy's (Canady's) of Bedford County, Virginia. My Great Great Grandmother was Mary Kennedy who married Jessie E. Markham in Bedford County and moved to Jennings Creek in Botetourt County in the late 1830's. As far as the Stratton's go, my only connection there is that My Great Uncle George J. Markham's wife was Mary Stratton from Lynchburg, Va. Thank you for the compliment on my Web Page, I am glad that you liked it. I have many relatives that are still in Bedford County through the Kennedy's. Keep in touch, Tommy Thomas A.
