Millstone Tea Room is where I grew up. My grandparents, Nellie & Charlie OVERSTREET built the "Tea Room" in 1939. My mom & dad , Agnes & Landon OVERSTREET bought it in 1954 from them and kept it up until the late 60's-early 70's. It had a dining room and we served "short orders"(that's where I learned to cook), there was a dance floor with a Wurlitzer...sometimes even had "live" music, had a small grocery store, was a gas station, we sold beer on tap and we lived upstairs over all this! What an experience it was growing up there! Music and dancing every Friday and Saturday nights. If anyone remembers the "Tea Room" and wouldn't mind sharing your memories from there, I sure would enjoy hearing about it. The "Tea Room" was about 10 miles out of town on 122 North and just about a mile away from the Bedford County Lake. Everyone from near & far would come to the lake during the summer (that's where I had my first paid job-working the concession stand & boat house rentals). This was way before Smith Mountain Lake! The "Tea Room" is now a lovely restuarant. Oh, what fun it is to remember times gone by! Leslie I was born and raised in that part of the country. I remember watcing the CCC guys buid the Sky Line drive, today they call it the Blueridge Parkway. Another project I watched was the Bedford Co Lake, just below the Ebenezer Meth church. I didn't get to meeting you at the fair. Don Hill The Mehaffeys <[email protected]> wrote:
