Dear List Members: When I was a young boy and we had gone to Bedford Virginia for the summer, I remember the summer of 1944. I remember it was a time of sad faces and broken hearts. Back then I could not really fathom the great loss that Bedford had sustained, but as I have grown older and now know the real story of all our brave solders that hit Omaha Beach on that morning of June 6, 1944, I can realize the great loss that summer long ago held for many Bedford families.
