I am hoping that someone on this list, who is possibly a descendant of the above has a photo of him...I have the following info: Benjamin Bowles Fuqua, b. 18 May 1822, a son of Abraham Fuqua and Elizabeth Curd Bowles, d. 8 Oct 1864. He married Permelia Jane Bond 27 Oct 1853. Benjamin's military history is as follows: In Date:5/28/61; In Method: Enlisted; Out Date:5/15/62 Discharged In Date: 8/18/63; In Method: Enlisted; Out Date:10/9/64 Killed Toms Brook Va. Benjamin Bowles Fuqua Residence was not listed; a 39 year-old Farmer. Enlisted on 5/28/1861 at Davis Mills, VA as a Private. On 5/28/1861 he mustered into "F" Co. VA 2nd Cavalry ; He was discharged for overage on 5/15/1862; (Estimated day of discharge); On 8/18/1863 he mustered into "F" Co. VA 2nd Cavalry ; He was Killed on 10/9/1864 at Tom's Brook, VA; (Reenlisted at Fredericksburg, VA); He was listed as: * On rolls 10/31/1861 (place not stated) (Present) * Absent, leave 12/14/1861 (place not stated); * On rolls 11/30/1863 (place not stated) (Present); * Detailed 4/30/1864 (place not stated) (On horse detail); * On rolls 6/30/1864 (place not stated) (Present); Other Information: born 5/18/1822 in Bedford County, VA (Left widow and three sons.) Benjamin is my gr.gr. grandfather. One of his 3 sons, William Isaac Fuqua is my gr. grandfather. Ollie Ruth Fuqua (dau of William Isaac and Vergie West Fuqua) is my grandmother. Many years ago, my brother inherited the Civil War Sword Benjamin carried in battle and has had it mounted along with Benjamin's military history. All that is missing is a photo of Benjamin. If there is anyone who possibly has a photograph of Benjamin I would love to hear from them and obtain a copy for my brother. Thank you ever so much Pat C. Johns in Va.
