Don, When you are using the marriage index at the Library of Virginia, you will find the two people and the date of their marriage. Beside this you will then find the county where they are married. You must then go to the particular county where they married and look up this information. As I said before, for my great grandparents, it was Botetourt County. When looking at the Botetourt County records, you would find their marriage license or bond. Also on the index for the particular county who was the minister that married them. So you really have three pieces of information: 1. the general index for the state 2. the index for the particular county 3. the copy of the actual bond or license.
