Marriage Bonds 1755-1800 by Dennis & Smith, page 40, a reprint, I found " Beverley Lee and Rebecca Lee, Oct. 15, 1799, Garnett Lee, surety, consent of William Lee, father of Rebecca". This would nearly confirm your 'hearsay' information that a William Lee was in Bedford Co. about 1800, and adds a Beverley, Rebecca, and Garnett Lee at the same time...... allegedly a cousin to cousin marriage with other relatives involved! Wish I had more, but I don't. But will look further as I have more time.
