    3. In August of 1993, the Bedford Genealogical Society Newsletter published an article, "Charles Markle Bible Records." The Bible was said to be in the possession of the Early Family, 722 College Street, Bedford, Virginia. The records were certified as being correctly transcribed by Susan A. Early. Do you have any knowledge of how I might contact Susan Early? 3. A reverse address search on MSN shows: Martin, Tony & Patsy 722 College St Bedford, VA 24523-1932 (540) 586-5474 There was an Early family who lived on College Street many, many years ago. Mr. J. N. Early lived on College St and used to fly a flag that he had brought home as a souvenier from the Civil War and some newspaper clippings said he flew that flag on several holidays. The flag is now at the Bedford City County Museum. I also did a "White Page" listing for the Early name in Bedford...none...only several in Bedford County and some in the surrounding county. This bible may be recorded at the Bedford County Courthouse. Contact information is: Bedford County Circuit Court Hours 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Phone 540/586-7632 Fax: 540/586-6197 Address 123 East Main St. Suite 201 Bedford, VA 24523 Hope this helps... 3. Fern, My husband portrays Old Jube. If interested, he (my husband, not General Early) can be checked out on this website: www.leeslieutenants.com Yes, we have a picture of the monument and will be glad to scan and send to you. In fact, tonight he was at a SCV meeting in Lynchburg doing a presentation on the "Savior of Lynchburg"! Another site to check out is the Jubal Early Homeplace Preservation is: http://www.jubalearly.org/ I was digging around on Ancestry.com census records earlier this week. It was interesting to see how Julia McNeely is listed from 1860 through 1880. Julia was the mother of Old Jube's children and in the records for 1860 & 1870, the children were not listed with the Early name. In the 1880 census in Franklin County, she is listed as Julia Pugh with sons: Joseph Early, Robert Early and Jubal Early. Two other children were listed with the Pugh name--Lilly & Thomas. One daughter, Florence is also listed as Banks last name and apparently a grandchild with the Banks name too. It is reported that Gen Early supported his children, however he and Julia never married. She gave up on him after the war and married a Charles Pugh. Just as a funny note...when out with my husband, I go as "Early's Girlie"!
