Thank you for the response. It is few and far between that there is anyone answering for Valentine Maddox. I think in the YDNA test Valentine did not match any tested (so far) Maddox's. It does not surprise me. I have no idea of who my ancestors may be - really lost. Have looked for years and years. Sometimes I think the Maddox name may have been a "made-up name" - for my ancestor, Elizabeth A. Madox. There is just one "d" in the bible record. Haven't a clue of any related human being to her. There is a Power of Attorney - " Know all men by these presents that I Valentine Maddox of the county of Daviess Kentucky for divers good causes --nominate -- Squires of Adair County Kentucky my true and lawful attorney for me to act in my name___found the proper persons the dividing of my part of Jas. Cundiff, Jr. Estate and testamony whereof I set my hand and seal this July 1817 Valentine Maddox. State of Kentucky Adair County. I Isaac Caldwell deputy clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid do certify that this day came the aforesaid Valentine Maddox before me in my office and acknowledges this power of attorney to be his act. Witnessed my hand this day of __ January 1817. Isaac Caldwell. Note: My copy of the original is very hard to read. So yes there is definitely a connection to Valentine Maddox from james Cundiff, Jr. for Valentine to have a part of his estate. I would really like to know the connection just because I am trying to turn over every stone looking for my Elizabeth A. Maddox's people. Thanks for anything at all, Jeanne [email protected] wrote: >I am descended from Valentine Mattox, through his son William, but I do not >have any information on the Mattox/Hawkins marriage.
