If any of you had ancestors who fought in the Revolution in the Battle of Point Pleasant you might want to visit the Court House and view a plaque put there by the "Peaks of Otter Chapter of the DAR". I have copied and pasted from by new Buford Book the following: On October 31st, 1931 in Bedford, Bedford County, Virginia the 'Peaks of Otter Chapter' of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) laid a Memorial Tablet to the memory of Captain John Thomas Buford and his company of volunteers who fought and laid down their lives in the Battle of Point Pleasant which occurred on October 10th, 1774. They ask the noted historian and author of many history and genealogy books; Landon C. Bell, to dedicate the memorial tablet with a speech. He did so with the following, historically based, speech. (Not included here) I have a roster of the men who were with Captain Buford if you are interested. Also, the Museum in Bedford should have Mr. Bell's speech. If not, I can copy and past that as well for you. Actually, I have a picture of the memorial tablet but I can't send that to the list. Have a great week-end everybody.
