Velma: There is a Thomas Williams who is dead by 1823. His father, Roger Williams, is suing his estate to recover some money that was owed to him. The court case states that Thomas left a widow and four small children with one born a few months after his death. His widow is given as the sister of John E. Woodson. I don't know if this your Thomas but thought I would let you know. HI All Sorry to be coming in here late. Roger Williams, who sued his son's estate was (I think) Roger b. 1749 d. 1835 m Cassie Blair, 1775 Amherst Co VA. Thomas, his son, was one of 10 children, as far as I can tell. That Thomas Williams b. 1777 m Elizabeth Woodson, daughter of Anderson Williams, on 13 Dec 1805 Campbell Co Va. He died before 1733 and left at least sons, William, Thomas, John, Samuel and Woodson Williams. This is not my direct line. Roger's grandfather is most likely the brother of my line. I think the immigrant was Roger b. in Wales, d. in VA, but not proven. That Roger seems to have had 3 sons, perhaps more and most likely daughters, but the records are lost. There seems to be an alliance between Thomas Williams b. 1712 d. aft Jul 1794 and bef 1806 in Goochland Co VA. He married Susanna Anderson. They had a number of children. Mine, Samuel m. Susanna Ligon 1766, daughter of William Ligon.. Their son Anderson Williams was born about 1767 in Cumberland Co VA d. aft 1860 bef 1870 in Botetourt Co VA. Anderson married Mildred Shepard 18 Dec 1786 in Cumberland Co VA. At some point, they apparently moved to NC for a period of time, but I can find no records of them there. But I come from his son, Samuel, who claimed in some censuses to have been born in NC. IF he was born in NC, they were back in VA by the time he married. Samuel married and then his son, Charles Anderson Williams. These migrated from Goochland, perhaps as far south as NC as Samuel claimed he was born in NC but I find no records of them there. They show up again by the time Samuel is marrying. He married Lucy S. Lewis 25 Dec. 1821 in Campbell Co VA. The lived, for the most part, in Botetourt, although I've found them in both Bedford and Campbell and often with the other line's family, so apparently either I have it incorrect, or they stayed in touch, however. There is also more than one Mastin Williams and I have not tied them together. One appears in Charlotte Co then moves to Campbell, though in reality, the move may have been more like the line shifting again, slightly. I have one Mastin Williams, son of Thomas Williams and ? Frances? Nugent?, b.1767=68 in Charlotte Co VA d. 1850 in Allen Co KY. That Mastin married Amy/Aime Collins, d/o Richard Collins and Mary Madison. I come from that couple's daughter, Catherine Collins who married William P. Hamlett, 16 Jun 1785 in Charlotte Co VA. While I have David married to Elizabeth Ayers, did he also marry a Susannah? Does anyone have this David Williams parents? Just food for thought. Mastin only fell into my family by way of marrying Aime Collins. But I have a line of Williams were Roger, Thomas, Samuel, Anderson, Samuel Charles Anderson Williams b. 1823 VA d. 1880 Botetourt Co VA m. Minerva Jane Craddock 10 Jan 1854 Montgomery Co VA, Willie Craddock Williams b. 1864 Botetourt d. 12 Dec 1917 Lynchburg VA. She married Daniel D. Moon 1886 in Pittsylvania Co VA, in the northern part, adj to Campbell Co. They were my GGgrandparents. I also have at least 3 other lines of undetermined William's, which drive me nuts!
