Perhaps that would account for so many children: maybe there are differing candidates for one or more until the puzzle is solved. Otherwise, there is probably a problem with the formatting, or the way I read or understand this layout. By the way, I understand that even in earlier times, it was considered imprudent for people to marry before age 21. Most of my ancestors were married at age 20 or 21, some later. Once I get into the early 20th century, it's a bit different and some married earlier. So, I think you have to consider the specific time and family background when you talk about marriage customs.
