To Anne: Probably old news. James Johnson was one of the very early pioneers of Brunswick county. I believe he had a son named John? I only recognized the name because they were neighbors of one of my Irvines. I believe Johnson Mountain and Johnson Creek were named after James. Anyway, he owned huge tracts of land all over. Flat Creek, Otter River, Falling River, etc. He was a very influential man in early Lunenburg. That's about all I know about the family. You've probably seen this old posting. Seems well researched.
