Remnants of War, by Ann Chilton has rosters for Co A, 2nd VA Cavalry Regiment Co D, 2nd VA Cavalry Regiment Co F, 2nd VA Cavalry Regiment Co G, 2nd VA Cavalry Regiment Co B, 10th VA Battalion, Heavy Artillery Co H, 34th VA Infantry Regiment Co G, 34th VA Infantry Regiment Co E, 34th VA Infantry Regiment Co I, 34th VA Infantry Regiment Co I, 58th VA Infantry Regiment Co A, 58th VA Infantry Regiment Co C, 42nd VA Infantry Old Dominion Rifles (This was the 1st Co C, 28th Infantry Regt) Bedford Light Artillery (Capt John Donnell Smith's Co) Rifle Grays, later Co B, 14th VA Infantry Regiment Co F, 28th VA Infantry Regiment Co G, 28th VA Infantry Regiment some men listed in Co A, 28th VA Infantry Co C 28th VA Infantry Co G 35th VA Infantry (these same men are listed in Co G, 34th VA Infantry) According to "A Guide to Virginia Military Organizations 1861-1865" Co A, 2nd VA Cavalry Regiment, were the "Clay Dragoons", Bedford Co, entrolled at Liberty May 11, 1861, mustered into service at Lynchburg May 11, 1861, for one year, reorganized Apr 24, 1862 Co D, 2nd VA Cavalry Regiment, were the "Franklin Rangers", Franklin Co, enrolled at Franklin May 20, 1861 and mustered into service at Lynchburg on May 22, 1861, for one year Co F, 2nd VA Cavalry Regiment, were the "Bedford Southside Dragoons", Bedford Co, entrolled at Davis Mills May 28, 1861, and mustered into service at Lynchburg on May 3, 1861, reorganized Apr 24, 1862 Co G, 2nd VA Cavalry Regiment, were the "Radford Rangers" Bedford Co, enrolled at Forest Depot May 28, 1861, and mustered into service at Lynchburg May 29, 1861, for one year, reorganized Apr 25, 1862 Co B, 10th VA Battalion, Heavy Artillery, were Capt. James O. Hensley's Co, appointed Mar 10, 1862. On Mar 19, 1862, 27 members of the 91st Regiment (Bedford Co) Militia were recruited into this company by the Secretary of war Co H, 34th VA Infantry Regiment, the "Guide" lists a 34th Regiment but there are only five companies, and was formerly the 4th Regiment VA Heavy Artillery. The captains listed in "Remnants" do not match thoseof the "Guide" Co G, 34th VA Infantry Regiment Co E, 34th VA Infantry Regiment Co I, 34th VA Infantry Regiment Co I, 58th VA Infantry Regiment, were the "Staunton Yeomanry", Bedford Co, formerly Co E, enlisted and organized Jul 24, 1861, mustered Sep 9, 1862, for one year, reorganized May 1, 1862 Co A, 58th VA Infantry Regiment, were the "Walker Guards" Bedford Co, formerly Co G, enrolled Jul 25, 1861, mustered Sep 30, 1861, for one year, reorganized May 1, 1862. Co C, 42nd VA Infantry, were the "Buford Grays", Bedford Co, enlisted at Lisbon, May 18, 1861, for one year, reorganized Apr 21, 1862 Old Dominion Rifles (This was the 1st Co C, 28th Infantry Regt), light infantry, enlisted and mustered May 16, 1861, for one year, transferred to artillery Aug 1861. Also known as Capt Thomas M. Bowyers Co, VA Light artillery. Reorganized on Apr 12, as Capt. John R. Johnson's Co, VA Light Artillery. Enlisted Apr 26, 1861, for one year, reogranized Apr 27, 1862 Co G, 28th VA Infantry Regiment, were the "Patty Layne Rifles", Chesnut Fork, Bedford Co, formerly Co H, see just above, enlisted Apr 27, 1861 for one year, reorganized May 1, 1862. some men listed in Co A, 28th VA Infantry , the "Blue Ridge Rifles" Botetourt Co Co C 28th VA Infantry, probably the 1st Co C ???
