    3. I don't have a list of soldiers from Bedford Co., but my ancestor Jeremiah Robinson was in the Militia and according to his pension, answered a call for a draft made to the Militia in the county. They mustered at the courthouse in the company commanded by Capt. James Dickson and marched from the courthouse to the Rye Cove Fort where they were stationed for three months and then to Long Island on the Holston River to garrison the fort and guard Indians. While there, a treaty was concluded between Col. Christy and Col Shelby and the Cherokee Indians. This group served a total of six months. In the summer of 1778, they supplied another call for a draft and again mustered from the courthouse in the Company commanded by Robert Adams. They were used to guard Chiswell's Lead mines against Indians and Tories I have been trying to find out which treaty was made at Rye Cove and study the history of the places mentioned to get a feel for why these places were important in the fighting of the Rev. War. They don't sound "as important" as being at Valley Forge, but must have had enough significance to be important to the war effort. If anyone can shed any light on these places and the people who served from Bedford County, I would appreciate it. Thanks ... Frances Webb fwebb@cei.net
