I am researching the John Murphy Sr. family of Bedford Co VA. In the Bedford Co Deed Book 24, pg 412-413, Nov 1834 my ggg-grandmother, Katherine Murphy, her son Pleasant and his wife Ann R. sold to John Nance some of the family land. At the bottom of the deed it states: In selling and conveying the land mentioned in the foregoing deed we except and reserve now and forever that part and portion of the premises denominated the grave yard attached and contiguous to the old mansion house including as much and no more ground than a square plat sufficiently large to embrace and include all and every grave hereto previously made and located in the grave yard. Does anyone have any knowledge concerning this family grave yard and if it still exists? My husband and I plan to take a trip to Bedford County sometime around May this year and I am trying to get as much information as possible before we get there. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
