VA, who are prob. the John & Margaret Phelps (Felps) on record earlier in Henrico Co. VA with land patents 1725/1731 -- through their son: Col. John Phelps II, Gentleman (m. Mary), member House of Burgesses, Capt., later Col. in Fr.-Ind. War, tax collector/road commisioner, Justice of Courts for Lunenburg/Bedford Co.'s VA; through their son: Lieut. John Phelps III, Rev. War (m. 1. Jemima Turner (my ancestor, her parents unkn.); m. 2. Susannah Younger, dau. John Younger & Ann Moss); through their son: John Phelps IV (was prob. in Franklin Co. VA military unit, may have d. War of 1812, but unproved), d. intestate c. 1815, estate 1815-1818 Franklin Co.; (m. 1. unkn. who was my ancestor "mystery lady"; m. 2. Mary "Polly" Ferguson, sister of my ancestor Moses Ferguson b.1794 m. Sophia Phelps, dau. John Phelps IV. Mary "Polly" Ferguson & Moses Ferguson were 2 of 11 children of John Ferguson Jr. d. 1828/29 intestate Franklin Co. (owned plantations in both Bedford/Franklin Co.'s; his Bedford Co. plantation was adjacent to Haynes and Young families). Wife of John Ferguson Jr. unkn. (she was also my ancestor "mystery lady", mother of 11 children, but no mention of her anywhere in death records of children). Children of John Phelps IV (plantation on south side of Staunton River, on Franklin Co. side): (by 1st unkn. wife): Mary "Polly" Phelps m. John K. Ferguson, to Monroe Co. KY (son of John Ferguson Jr. d. 1828/29); Susannah Phelps m. Christopher "Kit" Board, to Hart Co. KY; Nancy Phelps m. James Hooper Burnett, of Bedford Co. VA; and Sophia "Sophie" Sophronia Phelps b. 1793, m. 1815 Moses Ferguson (see above) who were my ggg-grandparents of Franklin Co. VA and Monroe Co. KY. Children of John Phelps IV & 2nd wife Mary "Polly" Ferguson: Richard T. Phelps m. Bethany Ellis Thurman, to Phelps Plantation, Lawson's Bottom, Cumberland Co. KY; Evaline Phelps m.
