Hello, My family has been unable to determine the origin of our ancestor Samuel Majors and his wife Abigail West, other than they were both born somewhere in Va. in 1778 and 1779. Sam and Abby were married Dec. 28, 1798 in Bedford Co. Va. and we have checked into many different MAJORS in Culpeper and Madison Counties but have not proven any one person to be a parent or sibling of Samuel. Abigail's parents were Joseph West and Sarah Romigh-West. We know that Samuel Majors along with his wife Abigail moved to Beaver County, PA. and acquired a large farm sometime after their first child was born in 1800 and before the birth of their second child in 1803. It was suggested to me to check into Land and Probate records for the counties of Culpeper, Madison and Bedford. Can someone tell me who I need to contact to find these records? Library, Court House, Genealogical Society? Does anyone know of a book or CD which might have this information? Any assistance with this information is appreciated !! Dana Majors-Lewis Melbourne, FL.
