I am looking for information on Ann Mildred English, b. CA 1841, in Pittsylvania County, VA, daughter of Henry English (son of George Lewis English and Ann "Nancy" (Smith) English) and Martha Nichols, daughter of Elisha and Nancy (Payne) Nichols. Ann Mildred was not married. At the time of the 1850 Federal Census she lived with her parents in Pittsylvania County; at the time of the 1860 Federal Census, she was in Franklin County; and in 1870 she was part of the houseold of Sanford McBride and his wife, Mary McBride in Franklin County. In 1880 she was head of household, with her son, Robert English, in Staunton Magisterial District, Bedford County, Robert having been born CA 1878. After the 1880 census Ann Mildred evidently had a nervous breakdown and she went to the Bedford County Poor Farm and her son, Robert, was reared by others. What I want to know is how or where I can locate information about how long she was there, when she died, and any other information that might have been given to the authorities at the time she went to the poor farm.
