    1. HARRIS
    2. I am attempting to trace all descendants of Rev. William Harris (1780-1865), who was a Baptist minister in Bedford County for over 50 years. I have lots of information to share with anyone who is interested, and also a few roadblocks that I could use some help with. His eldest son, Yancey Harris, was born about 1800, and married Louisa L. Thompson (dau. of David Waddy Thompson, Sr. and Elizabeth Anderson) in Bedford County on 12 Mar 1824. I've identified 7 children of this couple, including John N. (or W.) Harris, born about 1834. John appears with his parents in the 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1870 Censuses. I haven't found any record of a marriage for him. There are two John N. (or W.) Harrises in two different Confederate units from Bedford County, one in the 34th VA Infantry (formerly the Virginia 4th Heavy Artillery Regiment) and one in the Bedford Light Artillery. John's brother was in the Bedford Light Artillery, but he had cousins and an uncle in the 34th. Does this John Harris sound familiar to anyone? I haven't found him in the 1880 Census for Bedford County, so perhaps he moved away. Cheryl Chasin CherylC470@aol.com
