I have Joseph showing on Lee CO VA census, 1850, and it appears that he may have children close to him. Dop you recordnize any part of this group or do you think there is any clue to other THOMAS groups? Joseph THOMAS, [1765], blind in 1850, born Bedford Co VA. Living with him were Mary [1808] and Pleasant [1840]. This Joseph may or may not be the same as the one above [Joseph Thomas son of John Thomas m Elizabeth; moved to Lee CO from Loudon CO in 1803 had a son James b 9-19-1802 m Hannah from Smythe CO about 1824. THOMAS, age 23, single born in Claiborne County Tennessee married REBECCA HOBACK, age 19, single born in Union County Tennessee married on Sep 26, 1867 in Lee County Virginia. They were married by Alexander E. Woodward, listed as Minister. George's parents are listed as Joseph and Elizabeth Thomas. Rebecca's father is listed as David Hoback. Woodward was a minister. His father was Valentine Woodward, seventh child of Jesse and Mary Hyden Woodward(b. Jan. 25, 1800 Stafford Co, VA.-d. Jan. 29, 1885 Lee Co. Va.), Valentine was a Methodist minister and resided in Sugar Run about five miles from Jonesville, Va. I have also seen his name mentioned as a part of the Methodist Camp Ground in Jonesville. The Woodwards intermarried with my Hydens and several from both sides became Methodist ministers. All I have on Alexander E. Woodward is that he was born Apr. 23, 1831 and married Maggie E. Burckon (Bierkon).
