Hi List! Searching a BARNES family - earliest ancestor so far: ADAM. Earliest date: 1767. He's in Major Stith's Old Land Entry Book - land probably in Botetourt or Montgomery. Just found records showing that he & Osias BARNES fought in Dunmore's War, 1774, & joined from BEDFORD Co. The 2 men in different companies but still Bedford. This info came from the Digital Card Index Files at VA State Library. Anyone have info on these 2 men? Any suggestions as to books from your county on these lines - Planning to "do" Bedford ct. records after olidays - BUT - Anything would be a help!
