Hi everyone, I am trying to locate family ancestors that were from Bedford County, VA. The family history is as follows: Henry Buford and MIldred Blackburn, Henry born on Sept. 19, 1751 in Culpepper Co. Va and died on Dec. 31, 1814 in Locust Level, Bedford County., Va.. He had a son named Thomas Buford Sr..born on March 11, 1776, married Elizabeth Pearce, Thomas had a son named Thomas Buford Jr. born 1809, raised in Bedford County then moved to Dade County, Mo.Died in 1894 in Dade County. Thomas Jr. had a son named William Stanton Buford born Oct.14, 1836 married Johanna Morris in 1865, William died in 1889, but before death had son named Thomas Stanton Buford on Sept. 30, 1866, who married Ollie Thompson on July 24, 1893. William died in 1931 at age 65. Thomas Stanton had 5 children including my grandfather Burrell Stanton who had my father Thomas Stanton Buford III. I am looking for the where abouts of William Staton Buford during the Civil War, I have no records of his location during 1861-1865 except only when he married in 1865, his wife I believe was from Kentucky. I heard that most of the sign ups for the Civil war was at Lynchburg Va.. I am wondering since Williams parents and grandparents was from Bedford county, Va., and since he was not married, possibly he went back to the home state to fight in the war. If anyone knows about Thomas Buford Sr., jr, or William Stanton Buford, what town they lived in etc.., I would very much appreciate any onfo you would like to share.
