Barnabas Arthur was born in about 1803 or 1806 at Virginia, married Jane Wright on October 6, 1823, at Franklin County, Virginia, resided in 1850 & 1860 at Franklin County, Virginia, and was a laborer and then blacksmith. They had five children, Thomas, Margaret, John, Nancy, and Goodman. Jane (Wright) Arthur was a daughter of 1823 (year of death) James Wright of Franklin County (place of death) and Peggy (Young) Wright and granddaughter of 1809 William Wright of Franklin County and Mary (probably Grant) Wright.
