    1. Re: [VABEDFOR-L] Dickinson Precinct Mid 1800's
    2. The Pigg River is located in what is now Franklin, Henry and Pittsylvania Counties; however, I know that at one time Franklin County was Bedford County. The information I have states that General Grant Maxey was a miller and lived in Dickinson Precinct in Bedford County and that he later moved to Roanoke (The Maxey's of Virginia, p. 614) which is where he died. I have an uncle who is 79 years old and he remembers going to the mill and visiting his grandfather, G.G.Maxey, he confirms that it was on the Pigg River but he thinks it was in the Rocky Mount/Gladehill Area. He says that he remembers visiting his grandfather and then going fishing in the River. He thinks that it is still standing and says that there was a plaque on the door of the building that had General Grant Maxey's name on it. His request of me is to "Please find this old Mill so that I can visit it once more time." So that is what I am doing, trying to give an aged man his request. Any information will be helpful. Thank you Pat in Va.
