Here is some information on John Ayers, the Methodist preacher: I am his 4th great - grandnephew ( that is a mouth full) He is the son of James Ayres Sr. and Hannah ? "Marrying" Rev John Ayers other small facts: 1. Va Revolutionary Pension Application Vol. 7. Pg. 66 & 67. Abraham Blankenships's file made mention of John Ayres being 91 in 27 Oct. 1845. It also mentions that he was a minister. He was born in Bedford and lived there all his life (until this date at least). GLR 23 DEC 1990 2. He wrote down the children of Richard and Mary Cundiff that was used for the application of John (b. 1757) Cundiff Revolution War Pension. He also wrote down the names of John Cundiff children. GLR 5 Mar 1991 3. HE is listed in 'Virginia Tax Payers 1782-87 other than those published by the United States Census bureau' by Augusta B. Fothergill and John Mark Naugle 1940 pg.5 'Ayres, John 1 _ Bed.' 4. Bedford Co. Court Order book 9 page 317 - Oct. 1789 John Ayers granted license to perform marriages as Methodist preacher.
