    1. Bedford Sentinel
    2. Hello fellow researchers, Thank you to everyone who helped me with my divorce question ! I went to the library last week to see which Bedford newspapers are available on microfilm there. Earliest was Bedford Sentinel and the microfilm began with 1857. Very small print but managed to collect a few obits and marriage announcements from that year. If you would like the full notice, just let me know and I'll type it out for you. Obits: Mr. James W. OVERSTREET Mrs. Mary Ann GREINER (Salem) Mr. Wm. LANGHORN (Botetourt) Lucy Catherine BURNETT Mrs. Mary Ann DEWITT Marriages: MOORE - BURKHOLDER MITCHELL - WOOD Also, of interest are the land and home sale announcements because they describe the property in detail and more understandable (to me at least) than the deed books: Richard DENNIS, Rose Cottage Garland H. FREEMAN William LOWRY James M. WILLIAMS, "Oakmulga" Samuel W. HENSLEY (moving west) Benj. P. REYNOLDS Pleasant D. COFER Benj. HAWKINS Julie Smith (Researching: Bays, Bohn, Bowyer, Carter, GROSS, Martin, Rice, Stanley and Tuck in Bedford County)
