    1. [VABEDFOR] James BOARD Family, Bedford,VA ca 1800
    2. Larry A. Nelson
    3. Rebecca BOARD was my wife's gr-gr-grandmother. Rebecca's father was James BOARD, but we don't know her mother's name. We believe that James BOARD was born in Bedford Co., VA in 1780-1790. We don't know if dtr., Rebecca was born (ca 1813) in Bedford VA or Breckinridge Co., KY. We are seeking to learn the birth date & place of Rebecca Board + her mother's name + Rebecca's death date. Rebecca Board wed William Perrin Hall in Breckinridge Co., KY ca 1833. She died ca 1853. Rebecca and Wm. Perrin Hall had 10 children. In the 1860 Census of Breckinridge Co., KY, Rebecca's brother, John G. Board, and her sisters (unmarried) were living in the same household. 1860 Breck. Co., KY Census, Hardinsburg Dist. 1, family # 494, p. 48: BOARD, John G. 36; + Mary, 42; Sallie, 40; Emerilla, 38; Kitty, 37; Frances, 33; and Jubal, 16. Jubal may be the son of John. All of the women's names match names of Rebecca Board's sisters except Sallie. Possibly, Sallie is John's wife. All are shown as born in KY. It's known from the deed [below] that John is the son of a James Board. Dudley Haynes & his wife Polly Hardin were living on a farm adjacent to John G. Board in 1860. Dudley Haynes' corner is part of the legal description. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1850 - DEED: William Perrin and Rebecca Board Hall to John Board; pages 27-28 (photocopy from Recorder's Office, Breckinridge Co., KY, Sept. 1998) "This indenture made this 26th day of October 1850 between William P. Witnesseth that whereas the above named James Board for deed in his life time entered a piece of vacant land in Breckinridge County on the waters of Sinking Creek and containing 283 3/4 acres for which said James Board obtained a patent and lived on said land until his death, and whereas the above named John Board the grantee and son of the said James Board for deed paid the principal part of the cost of entering said land and lived & worked with his father during his life time and has supported his mother & younger sisters since his father's death and whereas his said father frequently in his life time expressed his intention of giving said land to his said son. Now for and in consideration of the premises and the further consideration of the sum of one dollar to them in hand paid the said party of the first part have given, granted , bargained and sold and by these presents do give and grant, bargain, sell and convey to the said John Board his heirs and assigns forever the before mentioned said tract of land which is described in said patent and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a post oak and a red oak on the side of a hill Frenches corner, thence N. 45 W. 284 poles to a white oak, thence S. 45 W. 392 poles to a persimmon, thence S. 53 E. 146 poles to two black oaks, thence S. 20 W. 180 poles to two dogwoods and red bud, thence South 82 West to a white oak Dudley Haynes corner, thence S. 45 East 87 poles to a white oak on the side of a road, and thence S. 45 East 592 poles to the Beginning, containing two hundred and eighty three & ¾ acres more or less with the appurtenances to have and to hold the said land and appurtenances to him the said John Board his heirs and assigns forever and the said party of the first part agree to warrant and defend the title of said land to the said John Board his heirs and assigns against all claiming by, through or under them --- In testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their names and affixed their seals the date first written. Signed W. P. Hall, Rebecca Hall, Mary Board, Sarah Board, Emerilla Board, Kitty Ann Board, Francis Ann Board." [It appears that Mary, Emerilla, Kitty Ann and Francis Ann signed with an 'x'; however, such a mark is not clearly evident for W. P. Hall, Rebecca Hall, nor Sarah Board]. "Kentucky, Breckinridge County -- County Clerk's office, October 26th, 1850: I William R. Jones, Deputy Clerk for Jo Allen, Clerk of Breckinridge County Court, do certify that this deed was this day produced to me in my county and acknowledged by William P. And I having examined the said Rebecca Hall, wife of the said William P.
