    3. Sorry, I don't know if they are related. This Mitchell group is elusive to me. I did find this: Bedford County Marriages: Mar. 25, 1833; Benjamin N. Mitchell & Nancy Wood; Thomas Wood, Surety. Bedford County Marriages: Apr. 23, 1840; Benjamin N. Mitchell & Mary Jane Lyle; John Mitchell, Surety; Consent of George Lyles, Surety. ----- Original Message ----- From: <MFinn40118@aol.com> To: <vabedfor@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 27, 2008 11:30 AM Subject: Re: [VABEDFOR] Civil War companies from Bedford Co > Beverly, > There are two Benjamin Mitchells. (Hensley's Company) They were stationed in Richmond. Spicer died of typhoid. 2. Beverly, There are two Benjamin Mitchells. The first married Emily and is living with her during the 1850 Census. They have a 19 year old living with them. This must be the one who married in 1830. There is a second Benjamin N. Mitchell. He married in 1833. He married Nancy Wood. This is probably the woman that is the mother of William H. Mitchell. I find it interesting that both his mother and his wife were both named Nancy. Do you know if the two Benjamins are related? Merilyn Finn **************Need a new ride? 2. The Virginia Infantry and The Second Virginia Cavalry came from Bedford. William H. Mitchell came from Lisbon Township. He was married to Nancy Jane Parker. John Moses Parker and Daniel Parker, the brothers of Nancy Jane Parker "Mitchell" Taylor signed on at Lisbon. John Moses Parker also was in the 2nd Virginia Cavalry. He enlisted here in 1862 at Barborsville. Samuel P. Taylor, my great-grandfather's brother, also signed on at Lisbon. My great-grandfather was George Thomas Taylor--descendent of William Taylor of Taylor's Mountain. Merilyn Finn **************Need a new ride? 3. To Anne: Probably old news. James Johnson was one of the very early pioneers of Brunswick county. I believe he had a son named John? I only recognized the name because they were neighbors of one of my Irvines. I believe Johnson Mountain and Johnson Creek were named after James. Anyway, he owned huge tracts of land all over. Flat Creek, Otter River, Falling River, etc. He was a very influential man in early Lunenburg. That's about all I know about the family. You've probably seen this old posting. Seems well researched.
