    3. Hello Bedford researchers, I accidentally deleted the message from a Mr. Wills regarding Ivy Hill in Bedford county, but here goes, anyway... I do not have any information on the Wills family but "Ivy Hill" is shown on my Bedford County Historical Map as being located in the eastern section of the county, just north of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and not far from Poplar Forest, the Jefferson estate. It's just north of the Lynchburg Road and near the old Radford place. I'm very familiar with this neighborhood, as I had an aunt who lived in this area for many years, but can't recall the specific house at this time. There is an Ivy Creek shown nearby. The Radford family still lives on their old homeplace. Is there a picture or description of Ivy Hill? I still have numerous cousins in Bedford county who may be familiar with the home if it is still standing. 1. Andrew Allen and Lavina Roberts
    2. Looking for information on Andrew Allen. At this point, all I know is that Andrew ALLEN married Lavina Roberts in March 1823 in Franklin County, VA and William Allen posted the bond for him. I don't know if William ALLEN was father, brother or even cousin. I'm not even sure if Andrew and Lavina lived in Franklin County at the time of their marriage so I'm checking other nearby counties. Andrew and Lavina eventually settled in Illinois where they had a son in 1841 named Joseph Sidney Allen. There were probably other children born before Joseph. Do these names ring a bell with anyone? Does anyone have a connection with Andrew ALLEN or Lavina ROBERTS? Does anyone have any ideas on where I can check for more information? Thanks in advance for any help. Mary Allen

    3. The attached message inadvertantly bounced the first time it was sent. << Start of Forwarded message via Prodigy Mail >> From: (RNGrant) BOB GRANT Subject: Wright Records For Bedford County, VA Date: 06/11 Time: 10:38 PM To Researchers Interested In Wright Families Of Southern Virginia: This email is being sent to the Bedford, Franklin, Southside, and Wright Mailing Lists, so you may receive a duplicate copy. Heritage Books has confirmed that they will be offering two publications that I have put together in their August catalog. The first publication is Wright Family Birth Records For Bedford County, Virginia and the second is Wright Family Marriage Records For Bedford County, Virginia. Each publication contains a chronological listing of the respective Wright records and includes the information in the record to the extent it was included in the original. For births this would include place of birth, sex, color, and the names, occupation, and residence of parents or name of slave owner. For marriages this would include for pre-1855 records the names of parents, witnesses, sureties, and ministers and for post-1854 records the place of marriage and the age, marital status, place of birth, place of residence, and names of parents of the husband and wife, the occupation of the husband, and the minister. The additional information in these publications that may be the most helpful to researchers is an identification of the known Wright ancestors of the individuals named in the records. For example, there are 312 Wright marriages through 1900 and only 11 of those have no identification information; the others have one or more ancestors identified, sometimes as many as five. The publications may be purchased through Heritage Books (not from me) and the price has not as yet been set by the publisher. Their homepage is www.heritagebooks.com. Their regular mail address and phone are: Heritage Books, Inc. 1540E Pointer Ridge Place Bowie, Maryland 20716 1-800-398-7709 Similar works for personal property tax lists, censuses, deeds, land tax lists, death records, cemetery records, and probate records for Bedford County and similar records for other counties adjacent to or near Bedford are in various stages of preparation, but whether Heritage will be interested in publishing those will depend upon how well these first two are received. And thus the reason for this email. If these materials are of interest to you, I hope you will contact Heritage Books. Best wishes, Robert N.
