I for one am very INTERESTED and certainly NOT irritated. I find the postings of surnames for Bedford and Mercer very USEFUL. As to the question, "What do you research?", I would expect that you research your own surnames. I appreciate you for taking the time to post ours. Thanks again and Happy Holidays Bill Hobbs

If I see a name of interest, I immediately go the GenWeb page and check it out. It saves me time from checking when there's nothing there of interest to me and let's me know if there is. Also, many of these families moved from County to County and if you only check on County you could miss something important. Please keep it up! I subscribe to a number of genealogy lists and most of the mail I receive gets deleted, as it does not pertain to my interests. I open your e-mails every time, and am sometimes delighted to find my own family names listed there. It also saves me the time of having to search through the Bedford County query page when nothing pertinent has been posted. I, for one, would like to say thanks to you for taking the time to provide this service! Laura Martin Bates of Bedford County website: http://members.aol.com/Llbmartin/index.html
Freddie, I have often been absorbed in working on a surname, tending to shelf other families at the time. Then, you post your list of queries - and I remember, 'Oh, yeah, that's my family as well'. I have made some valuable connections because of your incentives to run over to your query pages. Thank you for jogging my memory! I appreciate your taking the time to post these messages. Dear Freddie, I like the postings of the surnames from the Query Page and watch this useful tool constantly. Think somebody had too much toddy to have written such an unkind thing to someone who is providing a valuable service for them. Hi List! Searching a BARNES family - earliest ancestor so far: ADAM. Earliest date: 1767. He's in Major Stith's Old Land Entry Book - land probably in Botetourt or Montgomery. Just found records showing that he & Osias BARNES fought in Dunmore's War, 1774, & joined from BEDFORD Co. The 2 men in different companies but still Bedford. This info came from the Digital Card Index Files at VA State Library. Anyone have info on these 2 men? Any suggestions as to books from your county on these lines - Planning to "do" Bedford ct. records after olidays - BUT - Anything would be a help! Just posted a zipped GEDCOM - for download ... There are more than 2,800 individuals in this database; most born in east Tennessee and southwest Virginia. Named are persons and places from throughout east Tennessee and southwest Virginia, and from North Carolina to Campbell and Claiborne Counties Tennessee - with a surprising number relating to Hancock County Tennessee -- some spanning Washington D.C. to the Pacific Coast. Perhaps this association will bring some familiarity that will prove "who are the parents of George 'Slater' or Catherine INGLE THOMAS ?"
