Hi, I've written to Freddie off the list to express my appreciation for the weekly updates and for all the other information that's provided. Excellent job! I think listing our surnames since the list is more active is a great idea.....mine are: KASEY SHAON CANADA BOATWRIGHT HAMPTON HAYNES WHITELEY Sally Kasey E.
I appreciate all the extras that you do Freddie. The notice is great. I probably wouldnt go to the page to check for new postings without the notices. I depend on you to alert me when new postings have been made. if it isnt someone i'm intrested in then it is easy to move on. also this posting is great for someone without internet services . they can certainly ask someone for a copy of the post. I vote keep up the good work. Rena
Hello List, Thanks to Freddie, he has stirred up the mailing list again. What a great way to start the new year. If it's ok with him, perhaps we could each enter all of our VA surnames and questions even if we'd done it in the past - it could create some new interest maybe and help our new 'viewers'. Jan W.
Yes all the work it takes to post the surnames to us is really great! SInce alot of us have many surnames we research and many different digests to read everyday it sure helps to have this update of the surnames in your new queries. It's like going and checking without doing it! Thank you for this service! Rob
Freddie: Thank you for posting Bedford Co. GenWeb surnames to the list. Please continue. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. Diane Kuras Spirit@sunline.net McClain - Meador - Morgan - Dickerson - Jordan - Dent
Researching my Family Tree and concentrating in Bedford County. If any one has some small bits of info they have seen, etc., I would be appreciative! Ancestors would be mostly from whats now the "Forest" & "Boonesboro" sections. Thanks William H. Cheatwood JR Lynchburg, Virginia
Freddie, I see you do this on several lists that I subscribe to. No problem. Keep up the good work. There always seems to be someone who is bothered by anything that doesn't directly help them. The delete key works for those things. -----Original Message----- From: Freddie Spradlin <FSPRADLIN@delphi.com> To: VABEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com <VABEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, December 27, 1998 1:25 AM Subject: Re: Bedford Co VAGenWeb QueryPage >OK folks, > I'd appreciate it if I could get a sense of what subscribers >think about my weekly posting of SURNAMES in new Bedford Co VAGenWeb >queries. Freddie, The way you are doing list is great. Jerry Grass
Hi Freddie, I just wanted to thank you giving us a little of your time by unselfishly sending the new names from the query page. I have gone back a few times to check these names after I received your email. If the person does not like your emails, then DON'T READ THEM ---- just delete them when you see Freddie's name. Sort of like the tv, radio, or a book - if you don't like it ----- change the channel, turn off the device or don't read the book! Happy Holidays everyone! I LOVE IT! I always check that weekly posting of surnames and appreciate the fact that you have done it. Kay

I appreciate having the list of surnames listed regularly. Thank you. I thought I would take this opportunity to mention again my MORGAN from Bedford County. Perhaps someone out there will recognize something to help out!! My PETER N. MORGAN was born @ 1814 in Bedford Co. VA. He, along with members of his family, traveled from Bedford County to Meade County, KY sometime about 1840. There were a number of Morgans and Morgan related families (related surnames) on the wagon train. It took them about 2 months to reach Meade County. I believe that my Peter N. Morgan was a son of Morgan Morgan Jr. who married Sally Vaughn on 22 of September, 1806 in Bedford Co. I know that at least two of their daughters were along on the trip. It seems that Morgan Morgan Jr. was deceased at the time of the journey. The daughters ( and I believe, a son, my Peter N. Morgan) were accompanied on the journey by William Morgan who was a brother of Morgan Morgan Jr. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who is related and/or is searching the MORGAN name in Bedford Co. Have a great holiday and a very HAPPY, PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR...and GOOD LUCK in ALL of those searches!! Marilyn Cossler Garrison
Hi everyone, I am trying to locate family ancestors that were from Bedford County, VA. The family history is as follows: Henry Buford and MIldred Blackburn, Henry born on Sept. 19, 1751 in Culpepper Co. Va and died on Dec. 31, 1814 in Locust Level, Bedford County., Va.. He had a son named Thomas Buford Sr..born on March 11, 1776, married Elizabeth Pearce, Thomas had a son named Thomas Buford Jr. born 1809, raised in Bedford County then moved to Dade County, Mo.Died in 1894 in Dade County. Thomas Jr. had a son named William Stanton Buford born Oct.14, 1836 married Johanna Morris in 1865, William died in 1889, but before death had son named Thomas Stanton Buford on Sept. 30, 1866, who married Ollie Thompson on July 24, 1893. William died in 1931 at age 65. Thomas Stanton had 5 children including my grandfather Burrell Stanton who had my father Thomas Stanton Buford III. I am looking for the where abouts of William Staton Buford during the Civil War, I have no records of his location during 1861-1865 except only when he married in 1865, his wife I believe was from Kentucky. I heard that most of the sign ups for the Civil war was at Lynchburg Va.. I am wondering since Williams parents and grandparents was from Bedford county, Va., and since he was not married, possibly he went back to the home state to fight in the war. If anyone knows about Thomas Buford Sr., jr, or William Stanton Buford, what town they lived in etc.., I would very much appreciate any onfo you would like to share. Any info in County books would be much appreciated also. Thank you for any help. Debra >From zadok@junct.com
