PLEASE, never pass these messages along until you have personally checked them at one of the many hoax sites (a few are below) and NEVER post any type of chain letter to an email list. tia, trapper http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html http://www.kumite.com/myths/ http://www.europe.datafellows.com/news/hoax.htm http://www.datafellows.fi/news/hoax.htm http://urbanlegends.miningco.com/ http://www.jr2.ox.ac.uk/imsu/antiv/hoax.html
Before these warning are sent to the L lists, perhaps they should be checked on the many reliable hoax lists. This latest has been around since I went on the net a year ago. We just finished the telephone-net scare, which had been listed in the hoax lists. For some reason some sicky gets a charge out of us netters sending mail to every one we know . Short change him by checking first. This also goes for al those chain letters we keep getting. Peg

I am searching for bells cast by the HEDDERLY family and hung in various churches and courthouses around the NC/VA line. The bells in Hillsboro' and Raleigh NC were hung around 1805. Thomas HEDDERLY married Ann HUDDLESTON ca. 1834, probably from Bedford Co. and they settled first in Mecklenburg Co. and later in Halifax Co. Any reference to this name and/or bells of this period gratefully received. John Hedderly hedderly@jrc.nl Petten, The Netherlands

I am seeking information on a Whittington family who lived in Bedford County in the mid-1700s. A Thomas Whittington was born in 1740 in London, England and died in 1831 in Bedford County. He married a Martha (no last name known) in 1760 in Bedford County, VA The descendents of this particular Whittington family migrated to what is now Putnam County WV in the early 1800s. 1/5/99 6 a.m. PST Dear Fellow Wright Researchers: My first and second efforts to send this email on January 3 seem to have failed and so I am trying again. If you receive multiple copies of this message, my apologies. Hopefully, this will go through. Bob Grant << Start of Forwarded message via Prodigy Mail >> From: (RNGrant) BOB GRANT Subject: Wright Land Records, Bedford Co., VA Date: 01/03 Time: 08:29 PM To Fellow Wright Researchers: My first email seems to have disappeared into cyberspace and so I am writing again. And since this is going to the Wright, Bedford, Franklin, Roanoke, and Montgomery mailing lists, you may receive multiple copies. Wright Family Land Records, Bedford County, Virginia, is now available from Heritage Books. This work (by me) lists all surveys, patent deeds, land grants, and grant deeds for Bedford County that name a Wright for the period from formation of the county until 1900. The listings are in chronological order and include the book and page number, date, parties, and type of instrument. There is also an identification column which lists the known Wright ancestors of the person named in the document. Almost all of the documents have at least one ancestor listed. The arrangement is similar to the Wright Birth and Marriage records previously published by Heritage.
