Hi Cuzins, Just wanted to tell everyone that I have updated the Bedford Genealogical Society web site. I added a cool weather link near the top for Bedford, but you can click on it and get yours too. Also added, "Are You Coming To Bedford?" This gives you a couple of recommended places to stay with their addresses and Phone numbers, plus an excellent little restaurant near the Courthouse and Museum. "Bedford Visitors Center" - This is a well done web site on Bedford which shows you a lot of the varied things to see and do in and around Bedford. "Information Page" on genealogy research and costs on genealogy requests done by the Bedford Genealogy Society. This is to be updated with more detailed information soon. Web site is located at, http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lane/9681/ HAPPY SPRING Y'ALL, Cuzin Waddie http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/3348/

Sally Fuqua's brother was long time resident of Bedford County, George W. Fuqua's father and mother were John Alexander Fuqua and Francis Landon Fizer. George W. Fuqua's sisters were, Sally Fuqua Lowry, b Abt. 1860, Lived in Roanoke, when she died. Jemmie Fuqua Cox b. Blanch Fuqua Kincanon, who married Theodore C. Kincanon, and lived in Louisa, Va. I need help in connecting these Fuqua's to Thomas Fuqua, son of Ralph Fuqua, who owned most of the land that is now Bedford, Virginia. Ralph's son Joseph, gave the land that the Bedford County Court House is built on. I am convinced that my Fuqua's, are direct descendants of Ralph Fuqua. Will someone please come to my rescue? Thank You, Tommy Markham
Hello, I'm relatively new to the Virginia email lists. I've signed up to several lists, as are many of you I'm sure. That being the case, I apologize in advance to those of you who will be getting duplicates. We have concentrated our search primarily in Patrick and Giles Counties because our earliest known ancestor, John (Jr.) was married in Patrick and lived there after marriage. Many of the subsequent generations lived in Giles County. Considering the many boundary changes that have occurred over the years, and the fact that John (Jr.?) may not have originally been from Patrick County, we thought it might be necessary to expand our queries as we haven't been having any success in verifying any of John (Jr.s?) ancestors. John's parents are believed to have been John Clark Sr. and Sarah or Susannah, last name unknown. John may have had a sister named Elizabeth born n the 1770's and a brother named William also born in the 1770's. Listed below is John (Jr's?) children and their spouses. John Clark (Jr.?) born abt 1790 & Elizabeth Wright born abt mid 1790's Patrick County Va. Hi Cuzins, Been a long while since I posted here. BE ADVISED: 17 April 1999, at 11:00 a.m., in the cemetery of the Staunton River Church near Huddelston, Bedford County, Virginia, the D.A.R. will be presenting the grave of Williamson Burnett (husband of Pricilla) with their plaque. We have Burnett cuzins coming here from California, Oklahoma, Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and all over Virginia for this event! A once in a lifetime opportunity to meet a lot of your kin folk so come on over and spend some time with us. If you need any help or more information, just let me know. Directions to the church are easy. Just find Bedford County, then Huddelston, Virginia. Look for Smith Mountain Lake State Park. The church is less than a mile from the entrance to the park. If any of you haven't heard from me in a while please drop me a line. A lot of y'all have changed your addresses. Y'all come on! Cuzin Waddie http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/3348/

William L., Vergie and Ollie all lived in Bedford all their lives. Ollie Ruth is my grandmother and was a private duty nurse in Bedford for years. I don't know much about Vergie, except that she raised one of her neices, Lille Florene Bragg, d/o Lillie Ruth West and Houston I Bragg. Can anyone, familiar with the Bedford Area, tell me who George Whitefield Fuqua's father and mother were. George Fuqua lived for years just at the top of Little Otter Hill on Old 460, now 221, on the right if you were going to Bedford from Lowry. I am a direct descendant of his and I am trying to extend this Fuqua Line. My Grandmother Bessie L. Markham of Lowry, Virginia was George Fuqua's niece. Bessie's Mother was Sally Fuqua Lowry, who lived at Center Point, where the Hobacks lived after the Lowry Family moved to Roanoke. Sally's husband was J. D. Lowry. Thank You, Thomas Markham
