    1. [VABEDFOR-L] RE: [BROWN-L] SAMUEL BROWN <and other Bedford County Browns>
    2. Freddy Brown
    3. In response to Kibby and Barbara, I saw your response to Kibby's query and would like to respond. I have been looking at these Browns for some time for a possible conneciton to my Edith Brown of Bedford County. There are some descendants of Old Henry that came to Bedford County, that I need in order to prove or disprove a connection. My Edith was apparently married to a Brown of Bedford County: 1789 - She first appears in Bedford Co., Va. - no titheables over 21. She is listed after Joseph, Zachariah and Jesse Brown. She is listed through 1794. 1794 - listed as Edith Brown, no titheables over 21. Not listed after 1794. 1794 - July 19 Bond dated for marriageto John Grant by Rev. John Ayers, a Methodist minister. (Bedford PRO 1:229) John Grant and Edith Brown/Grant left the Beaverdam Creek area of Bedford County about 1798 and moved to Montgomery County and left there about 1804 for Russell County. Their descendants left there in 1807/8 for Sumner County, Tn. I suspect that Edith and John died in Russell Co., Va. Back to Edith. I am looking for a Brown that lived (apparently) in Bedford County and should be listed somehow prior to 1789, which is the date that Edith shows up on the property taxes as the head of household. I'm also not sure who the Joseph, Zachariah and Jesse Brown are, listed next to her. They also seem to sort of vanish from Bedford County. If you have any info on them, I would appreciate it. I think they were probably related some way to her husband. Back to Old Henry's descendants. Is there any way we could share lists of his descendants for about 4 generation of him? I noticed that I have some differences from your listings for him. For example: I have Daniel S. and David as children of his 2nd wife, Esther. I don't have any descendants of David or Robert, or who David married. Could it be my Edith? I would love to hear from others concerning this family, especially the descendnats that made it to Bedford County. I have ordered a copy of the new-republished book "Our Kin" hoping that it might clear up some of my data on this family. If I might regress a little to Beaverdam Creek area, a study of the early deeds point to a John Brown and possibly a William Brown living in that area prior to 1789. Thanks. 1. [VABEDFOR-L] Any Slussers Out There?
    2. Catherine Slusser
    3. I am doing research on my SLUSSER family. Most of the research is in Montgomery and Botetourt Counties, but it appears that my great-great-grandfather Henry Madison SLUSSER spent several years in Bedford County as well. He and his wife Hannah Jane ZIMMERMAN SLUSSER appear in the 1850 census in Botetourt County. But they seem to have moved to Bedford soon thereafter. Several of their children including my great-grandfather James Madison SLUSSER (b 1853) were born in Bedford -- though I have no documentation on this point. An 1859 deed in Montgomery County lists Henry and Hannah SLUSSER as living in Bedford at that time. I have no 1860 data and don't know when they returned to Botetourt -- the next solid evidence I have for them there is in 1870. Has anyone out there ran across information on Henry Madison SLUSSER, Hannah Jane ZIMMERMAN SLUSSER during that period in Bedford? Thanks in advance for any information or help. --Catherine Slusser --Catherine Slusser

    1. [VABEDFOR-L] BOBLETT
    2. Pamela K. Alves
    3. I am looking for information on James BOBLETT. He was b. ca 1828 in Bedford Co. VA according to his marriage certificate. He marriad Mrs. Elizabeth P. Boblett a widow on 6 September 1857 in Washington Co., KY. I believe that Elizabeth was Elizabeth Permelia Simms that married Henry H. Boblett on 22 June 1850 in Washington Co., KY. I believe that Henry H. was a brother to James. Babtismal records of St. Rose Church in Washington Co., KY state that Henry Boblett & Elizabeth -- had a John that was born 8 May 1852 and then state that James Boblett & Elizabeth Simms had a Ann b,1864, James b. 27 Sept 1867, Wiliam Henry b. 31 January 1870, Frances Ann b. 3 August 1872 & Edward Alfred b. 16 August 1875. I think that both James & Henry's father was John Boblett that was b. ca 1799 in VA. There is a death record in Washington Co., Ky that states that David C. Boblett age 26 d. 4 December 1856 and his parents were John & Susan Boblett. There is a marriage bond for a John BOBLITZ & Sarah HOOVEN marring 21 Feb. 1816 in Bedford Co. Va. Has anyone heard of Sarah & Susan being used for same person????? Would appreciate any information anyone might have on this line and will gladly share what I have. thanks Pam & Wayne Alves palves@henderson.net Volunteer of Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness at http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnraogk/index.htm

'clarify') The new terms of service, which took effect 3 p.m. PST Wednesday after executives spent the morning huddling with lawyers, now stress that "Yahoo does not own content you submit."
